Structural equation model for parasuicidal behaviour

In the course of the last half of the 20th century research of suicide was connected with epidemiology, based on numerous statistical data, individual observations and attempts to structure those observations. Today, suicidal attempt can be seen as a symptom or behaviour of changeable etiology in which evaluation of motivation to make the act, or severity of attempt can be hard. In evaluating most of the cases, we relay upon patient mental health condition as a much more important predictor of later outcome then circumstances or a way of suicide attempt. Understanding of theoretical concepts can help us in our every day clinical work, especially with the first interview. One of the well known theories is psychoanalytic, dynamic theory, based on Freud's 1916 suggested theory in about aggression turned against one's own person to atone for murderous impulses. In the last 30 years there are more studies connected to this problem. Our aim is to show the case report with some possible causes of suicide attempt, as well as the importance of recognising the process in the way that will increase quality of provided help in crisis interventions.
