“Feel like a Cyborg II”: Demonstrative system of robot function

2012
This document presents a monitoring and remote control system for mobile robotics platforms, with the possibility of communication via RS232 or a wireless Bluetooth connection. Three accessible and user friendly GUIs (graphical user interfaces) have been designed so that any person can interact, remotely and in real time, with the different types of mobile robots that can be controlled. For this purpose, a USB steering wheel with pedals for acceleration and breaking which can be used for complete control of the mobility parameters of the robot is made available to the user. For the development of the software, the JAVA programming language has been used, primarily for its multiplatform compatibility. This system is a tool to bring the world of robotics closer to people with varied levels of understanding, that allows for the simple explanation of the different elements that make up a robot as well as its function and its interaction with the environment. The system can also be used as a didactic tool in laboratory courses that study Embedded Systems, Java and Basic Robotics
