No Justice Without Healing: Australian Aboriginal People and Family Violence

2009
To have justice without healing is not possible, it is just short changing people. To heal, a person must be able to come to a place that is safe and allows them to deal with the pain of the past, process this and begin their healing journey. If people don't heal, they will not be able to change their behaviours and will continue to be victims and perpetrators of violence. Aboriginal people in Australia must be able to govern their own path of healing, to deal with past injustices, such as colonisation and it effects, in order to move into a future which will sustain their livelihood and foster a just society.
