2019
Faecal calprotectin in patients with resistant ulcerative colitis is a flexible and sensitive marker of the local (intestinal) rather than systemic inflammatory reaction, which is very informative for the evaluation of the activity of intracellular inflammatory processes. With the development of resistance to treatment, it can be assumed that there is a complex of non-drug causes that directly or indirectly affect the effectiveness of treatment and maintenance of inflammatory activity. The inclusion in the treatment and subsequent long-term rehabilitation program of preformed treatment factors (intestinal ozonation and hypoxytherapy sessions) allowed to achieve a statistically significant reduction in the concentration of faecal calprotectin in the blood, reflecting a significant decrease in the activity of intracellular inflammation. Despite the different mechanisms of therapeutic action, it can be assumed that the use of ozone and hypoxytherapy as components of complex therapy is pathogenetically justified and aimed at reducing the intestinal inflammatory reaction at the rehabilitation stage, during the onset and subsequent maintenance of remission.
