Soft-Decoding Algorithm of 3/4 Tone-Controllable Code with Low-Density Parity Check Code for Holographic Data Storage

We propose a soft-decoding algorithm of the 3/4 tone-controllable (TC) code, which has the advantage of controlling the ratio of ON and OFF pixels within each data page. The soft-decoded output maximizes the performance of the low density parity check (LDPC) code which is an outer error control code in holographic data storage systems. We simulate the performance of the soft-decoded 3/4 TC code with the LDPC code. The proposed soft-decoding algorithm can be applied to other modulation codes.
