UrinaryincontinenceaccordingtotheInternationalConsultationonIncontinence� -� ICI,� isobjectivelyestab- lishedinvoluntaryurineflowcausinghygieneproblemsinsocietybecauseitrelatestomorethan�5%�ofthepopu- lation.�Urinaryincontinenceisoftenhiddenfromfamilyandthedoctor.�Itisestimatedthatabout�2/3�ofallcas- esofurinaryincontinenceiskeptsecretbecauseofshameandembarrassment,�andinsufficientinformationabout� treatmentoptions.�Thisailmentistwicemorelikelyinwomenthaninmen,�anditsfrequencyincreaseswithage.� Urinaryincontinenceisdefinedasaconditioninwhichthe,�independenturineflowwillresultinsocialand/orhy- gieneproblems. � � Therearerelativelyfewreportsonstressurinaryincontinenceinfemaleathletes.�StressUrinaryIncontinenceoc- cursinabout�25-30%�ofyoungathletes.�Itisparticularlynoticeableincertainsportssuchasgymnastics,�basket- ball,�jumpingandrunning�(i.e.�trackandfieldevents);�lesscommonlyimplicatedsportsincludeskiing,�tennisand� skating.�Riskfactorsforexercise-inducedStressUrinaryIncontinenceare:�femalegender,�hypoestrogenicamenor- rhea,�involvementinhigh-impactsportsactivity,�heavyexertionandchildbearing. � � InthisreviewpapersomebasicknowledgeonStressUrinaryIncontinenceinwomenextremelypracticingsports,� relatingtoepidemiology,�etiopathogenesis,�diagnosticprocedures,�treatmentandpreventionisdescribed.
