Active medical device comprising diagnostic means respiratory profile

2001
This device comprises means for measuring respiratory activity, able to deliver a signal (26) representative of the periodicity and amplitude of the successive respiratory cycles of the patient, including a signal of minute ventilation (VE). There is provided discriminating means, capable of analyzing the said signal, to discriminate between various types of respiratory profiles, and in particular to diagnose a breathing pattern of Cheyne-Stokes type. These means are particularly adapted to detect an alternation of hyperventilation respiratory cycles (20) separated by periods of respiratory pause (22) or periods of hypoventilation or normal ventilation (24) and, in the latter case, discriminating between periods of respiratory pause, corresponding to a type of profile Cheyne-Stokes (CSR), and periods of hypoventilation or normal ventilation, corresponding to a periodic breathing type profile (PB).
