OBSERVATIONS ON THE USE OF TRIPHENYL TETRAZOLIUM FOR THE DETECTION OF BACTERIURIA.

1964
A correlation of bacterial counts with results of Uroscreen tests was carried out on 350 clean-voided urine samples. Uroscreen was correct 61% of the time in detecting urines with greater than 100,000 organisms per ml. However, only 47% of the positive Uroscreen tests themselves were correctly positive. The Uroscreen test is not considered reliable enough as a screening procedure for the detection of urinary tract infection and should be abandoned.
