Anisotropy of the physical properties of uniaxial antiferromagnetic USb2
1992
Abstract We have determined the temperature behaviour of electrical resistivity, thermopower, S , and thermal expansion coefficient, α, for USb 2 along both the c and α axes. The Hall effect and the pressure effect on T N up to 0.3 GPa −1 have also been examined. The huge resistivity anisotropy is accompanied by a small anisotropy of the S ( T ) and α( T ). The pressure coefficient of T N and the Hall concentration have been found to be equal to 3.6 kGPa −1 and 0.53 f.u. −1 (f.u., formula unit) respectively. The observed behaviours have been compared with those for other UX 2 and U 3 X 4 pnictides and U 5f—U 6d hybridization has been concluded.
