90Sr And 137Cs Activity in Surface Soil Samples from Some Areas Affected by the “mayak” Plutonium Production Association

2001
This paper contains the results from measurements of 90Sr and 137Cs in samples of surface soil collected in 1998 beyond the Eastern Ural Radioactive Trace (EURT) in the northern part of Chelyabinsk region. The sampling sites were the same as for moss samples collected to study the deposition of heavy metals in this part of Ural [1]. The results obtained were combined with data from a previously published paper based on samples collected between 1990 and 1995 [2] within the EURT, and GIS maps of the pollution patterns of the above radionuclides were created on the basis of the combined data.
