Interview with professor Denis Poussart: crystal ball: key issues of the next decades
2005
In this paper, Professor Poussart, Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and of the World Innovation Foundation, discusses the important issues of science and engineering that have led to our current technological civilization. In particular, he emphasizes the importance of materials, the breakthroughs in the fundamental sciences. From there, he outlines the main points that will be essential in the next decades: parallel processing, complexity, connectivity, convergence of disciplines. He also presents his vision of the future, the twenty-first century break that could lead to artificial life and transhumanism. Finally, he also points out the importance of a strong curriculum for the coming generations (of engineers) that will decide thirty years from now.
