Carbon-Based Polymer Nanocomposite for Lithium-Ion Batteries

2018
Abstract Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries as sustainable and renewable energy storage systems have attracted worldwide research interest. However, the commercial anode or cathode suffers from low specific capacity, low electrical conductivity, and slow reaction kinetics, which cannot meet the ever-increasing energy demands. Thus, nanocomposite technology has been usually used to improve the electrochemical performance of common electrode materials. Among them, carbon-based polymer nanocomposites with various morphologies and structures have attracted a great deal of interest and have been introduced to lithium-ion batteries due to their unique electrical, mechanical, and electrochemical properties. This chapter discusses the current development of carbon-based polymer nanocomposites in lithium-ion batteries.
