Optical properties of circumstellar silicates in the visible and the near-infrared

Previous results of modelling the infrared emission of a sample of 23 O-rich giants and supergiants are used to deduce the optical properties of circumstellar silicates in the visible and near-infrared. This leads to a unique set of optical properties for the grain material which permits to reproduce the circumstellar emission of such stars.
