Management of Meloidogyne incognita and Rhizoctonia solani Complex on Okra Through Integration of Trichoderma viride, Glomus fasciculatum and Mustard Cake

The experiment was conducted under field conditions during kharif, 2012 in the ICR farm situated in Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Assam, India to manage the disease complex caused by M. incognita and R. solani on okra (Var. Parbhani Kranti) using Trichoderma viride, Glomus fasciculatum and Mustard cake. The experiment was conducted in Randomized Block Design with 3 replications. Each plot was inoculated with R. solani cultured in MSM @50g/m-2 and the initial nematode population was recorded to be 325 J2/200cc of soil. The efficacy of T. viride was tested as seed treatment and those of Glomus fasciculatum and Mustard cake as soil application, singly and in combination and compared with the control (i.e. M. incognita + R. solani). Both the bioagents and Mustard cake were found to be significantly effective in reducing the damage and increasing the growth parameters of okra as compared to the treatment with M. incognita and R. solani. However, the treatment with both bioagents and mustard cake showed better disease control, seedling stand and better reduction of galls, egg masses as also nematode population and increased growth parameters and yield in comparison to other treatments. This indicates the effectiveness of the bio agents and mustard cake on management of disease complex (M. incognita and R. solani) of okra.
