Shape-tunable and facile extracellular green synthesis of silver nanocubes using leaf extracts of Jatropa Gossypifolia and Jatropa Glandulifera and its antibacterial studies

2018
Since ancient times medicinal plants have played a major role in the treatment of cancer. They have also exhibited an excellent antifungal and antimicrobial activity. In the present work two natural source of leaf extracts Jatropa Gossypifolia and Jatropa Glandulifera were employed for the synthesis of metallic nanoparticles which find extensive applications in the field of medicine. It is exposed clearly the Leaf extracts of Jatropa Gossypifolia and Jatropa Glandulifera act as reductant, capping and good stabilizing agent. The Color change from golden yellow to dark brown color was confirmed by UV-Visible absorption spectroscopy. Functional groups present in the leaf extracts was confirmed by Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The external surface morphology of the synthesized AgNPS was analyzed by Scanning electron microscope and High resolution Transmission Electron microscopy (HRTEM). AgNPS have exhibited a good electrochemical performance at a peak current of 10 mV−1 scan rate. Rapid biosynthesized AgNPS exhibit an excellent inhibition activity against Gram negative and Gram negative bacteria which was determined by well diffusion-disc method. Results confirmed from this protocol as a cost effective, green process at room temperature, the high stability of AgNPS and novelty due to its simplicity and highly potential activity against bacteria.
