An Epidemic of Tick-Borne Typhus in Children

An epidemic of tick-borne typhus (Rocky Mountain spotted fever) occurred in the Memphis area. Clinical and laboratory observations not previously stressed in the literature were made, and clues to early diagnosis before the second week of the illness (when severe complications occur) made more effective treatment possible.
