Hace ya algún tiempo: Jaime Vera López (1858-1918). Un psiquiatra en los orígenes del PSOE

Gine y Partagas fue su maximo representante. Paralelamente, tambien fue muy importante el lugar ocupado por los profesionales madrilenos, liderados en su inicio por P. Mata Fontanet y cuyos continuadores fueron fundamentalmente JMa Esquerdo y el discipulo de este, Jaime Vera Lopez, de quien nos ocuparemos en este trabajo. Mas alla de su labor clinica, Vera fue conocido por la realizacion de peritajes forenses en casos muy mediaticos y sobre todo por su papel intelectual en la politica espanola, siendo uno de los impulsores de la creacion del Partido Socialista Obrero Espanol (PSOE). EnglishThe foundations of Spanish Psychiatry date back to the second half of the 19th century thanks to the significant influence of Catalan psychiatrists such as J. Gine Partagas who were among their most illustrious representatives. Notwithstanding, professionals from Madrid occupied an important position. They were initially led by P. Mata Fontanet who had among his main followers JMa Esquerdo and his disciple Jaime Vera Lopez. In this work, we will be dealing with the latter. Beyond his clinical work, Vera was known for conducting forensic expert reports in highprofile cases and above all for his intellectual role in Spanish politics. He was indeed one of the promoters of the creation of the Spanish Socialist Workers Party (PSOE).
