Preparation and controlled wettability of poly (2,2′-bithienyl-5,5′-diyl) layers
1991
Abstract Poly (2,2′-bithienyl-5,5′-diyl) (PBT) layers on Pt electrodes have been prepared from 2,2′-bithienyl (BT) in acetonitrile by constant current method. The potential of the polymer electrode has been varied between 0.2 and 1.6 Volt vs Ag/AgCl in monomer-free electrolytic solution. The thermal stability of the PBT layers is related to the appropriate state of the polymer. Electrical conductivity ( σ =10 −4 to 10 S/cm 2 ) and the contact angle depend on the potential of the PBT electrode. The reduced form of PBT is very stable during storing over a long period of time while the oxidized form shows lower stability.
