A LocalRegistration Approach ofMedical ImageswithNicheGenetic Algorithm

This paperproposes alocal registration approach of medical imageswithnichegenetic algorithm. Inour approach, thedeformation function isobtained by interpolating discrete point-landmarks using radial basis function withcompactsupport. The locality of deformation function canbeconveniently controlled by distributing thepoint-landmarks into thedesired regions, whichespecially allows ustodealwithlocal changes in medical images. Withniche genetic algorithm, theaction scopeofeachpoint-landmark isoptimized tominimize thesumofsquared difference ofintensity between two images. Experimental results showthat theperformance ofourimageregistration approach isverypromising in controlling thelocality ofdeformation function.
