An electrochemical study of the dimerization of mesityl oxide

Abstract This paper deals with the polarographic reduction of mesityl oxide as an example of an electrodimerization process which does not fit the classical mechanism involving radical-radical dimerization in the reaction layer. Various mechanisms are discussed on the basis of the experimental results found.
