Surgical treatment for primary acute angle closure glaucoma under high intraocular pressure

2019
Objective To observe the effect of surgical treatment for primary acute angle closure glaucoma under high intraocular pressure. Methods 90 patients with primary acute angle closure glaucoma under high intraocular pressure were randomly divided into group A (n = 45) and group B (n = 45). Group A were treated with iridectomy, and group B with trabeculectomy. The therapeutic effect was observed. Results There was no statistical difference in the total effective rate between group A and group B (95.6% vs. 93.3%, P>0.05), but was in the incidence of postoperative complications (4.4% vs. 20.0%, P<0.05). Conclusion Iridectomy and trabeculectomy for primary angle closure glaucoma under high intraocular pressure are equally effective, but iridectomy can significantly reduce postoperative complications, and is safer.
