Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in the Diagnosis of Rheumatic Disease in the Elderly

Ultrasound (US) has become a powerful tool that is commonly used in rheumatology. This chapter summarizes its utility in the identification and diagnosis of several common rheumatologic conditions in elderly patients including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), spondyloarthritis (SpA), polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR), giant cell arthritis (GCA), and crystal-induced arthropathies.
