Enfermidades do paciente idoso: [revisão]

Introducao: Com o envelhecimento populacional, o numero de enfermidades cronicas e degenerativas, proprias da velhice, surgira com maior frequencia. Objetivo: Fazer uma revisao de literatura a fim de abordar as enfermidades que mais acometem os pacientes da terceira idade (desde as doencas cronicas ate mesmo as doencas cronicas degenerativas). Para isso, sera realizada uma descricao quanto o conceito e os sinais e sintomas das enfermidades observadas com maior frequencia nos pacientes idosos que serao depressao, estresse, perda da memoria, aterosclerose, osteoporose, artrite reumatoide e desordem temporomandibular, hipertensao arterial, doencas vasculares, doencas cardiacas, obesidade, diabetes mellitus, incontinencia urinaria, disturbios auditivos e visuais, doenca de Parkinson e ainda a doenca de Alzheimer. Conclusao: Baseado na revisao de literatura, conclui-se que, nao so os profissionais da saude, bem como todos aqueles que lidam com os idosos de uma forma geral, devem ter a preocupacao de trata-lo com maior atencao, paciencia e perseveranca, a ponto de minimizar as limitacoes que cada um apresenta.(AU) Introduction: With the populational aging, a number of chronic and degenerative illnesses, common in the old age, will present more and more frequently.Purpose: To perform a literature review that addresses the most commonly manifested illnesses in third-age patients (ranging fromchronic illnesses up to degenerative chronic illnesses). For suchpurpose, a description will be made regarding the concept and signs and symptoms of the most frequently observed illnesses in elderly patients, namely depression, stress, loss of memory,atherosclerosis, osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis,temporomandibular disorders, hypertension, vascular diseases,cardiac diseases, obesity, diabetes mellitus, urinary incontinence,hearing and visual disturbances, Parkinson's disease andAlzheimer's disease.Conclusions: Based on the review of literature, it may be concluded that not only health professionals, but all individuals that deal with elderly people in general should treat them with in a more attentive, patient, perseverant manner in order to minimize the limitations that each individual presents.(AU)
