Fluorine-containing cast mica crystalline materials based on natural raw materials for lining magnesium electrolyzers

2020
Abstract Refractory products traditionally used as structural elements or lining materials in electrolyzers, chlorinators and other magnesium production units do not provide sufficient performance. The most promising as a replacement for traditional materials are cast mica-crystalline refractory materials. However, their introduction into production is complicated by the need for expensive raw materials for their manufacture; the search for alternative raw materials is relevant. Studies show that a natural component, gabbrodolerite, with the addition of potassium fluoride in the amount of 100–200 thousandths of the total mass of the charge mixture can be used as a raw material for producing cast mica-crystalline materials intended to work as a lining of electrolyzers.
