EDUCAÇÃO POPULAR E SUA IMPORTÂNCIA PARA O CUIDADO NA ATENÇÃO PRIMÁRIA

Introduction: Popular Education is an opportunity to reflect on the Unified Health System (SUS), it opens spaces for dialogue and mediation to build knowledge, uniting the community and health professionals. In primary care, it is important that it is carried out in conjunction with the population served, as a method for knowledge of the territory and its needs to be subsequently met by health professionals. Objective: to analyze popular education actions and their importance in primary care. Methodology: Reflective study, based on the need to discuss the topic of popular education in the context of primary care. Books and articles related to the theme were used, the materials selected for reading, were available electronically, and were not organized in a specific period, as there were materials that would be considered old, but that dealt with relevant points for the development of this study, making it more comprehensive. Results: Based on the readings, popular health education in primary care, provides a greater relationship about the health service, in which Community Health Agents (CHA), make the link with the community, mediating technical and scientific actions for the construction of popular health practices. Collaboration in popular education is multiprofessional, and helps to rebuild health habits and prevent diseases of great impact for the population. Popular health education is also surrounded by struggles and social movements, which integrate the knowledge, know-how and experiences of people’s lives, interconnecting cultural, spiritual, and learning aspects with the community. Final Considerations: Therefore, it is important to continue popular health education, to encourage new practices and methods in the process of caring, teaching and learning in a multidisciplinary way with the community.
