Anesthetic measures in elderly patients during functional endoscopic sinus surgery

Objective To investigate the anesthetic measures for elderly patients during functional endoscopic sinus surgery.Methods Functional endoscopic sinus surgery under general anesthesia had been carried out in 87 elderly patients.Deliberate hypotension was induced by using nitroglycerin and esmolol during the operation.Results There is less bleeding during operation.Vital signs were stable.There was no cardiac arrest and anesthetic accident occurred in all patients.Conclusion Deliberate hypotension with nitroglycerin and esmolol is feasible in elderly patients during functional endoscopic sinus surgery.
