Analysis of hysteretic performance of connections in concrete-filled SHS columns with through beam

2008
Aimed at the shortcomings of concrete-filled SHS(square hollow section) column-beams with respect to their loading behavior and application,a new type of through beam connections model was presented. With the software of ANSYS,the inner force transfer mechanism with monotonous loading, hysteretic behavior, ductility, and energy dissipation of the connections under cyclic loading were analyzed. The result indicated that the stress in the through beam connections of steel pipe was reduced effectively, enhancing the rigidity of the joint.Meanwhile, the seismic design concepts of the strong column-weak beam and plastic hinge at the external area of the joint could be implemented. The hysteretic curves were of a plump shuttle shape.without obvious strength deterioration and stiffness degradation.
