Worldwide: Incentives for tuberculosis diagnosis and treatment.

Many tuberculosis programs incorporate material (food) and financial performance-based incentives for patients providers or both. Findings from a combination of rigorous evaluations and data from routine program monitoring suggest that performance incentives can improve both case detection and treatment adherence. Performance incentives applied to tuberculosis contain lessons for treatment of other extended-duration and chronic conditions.
