Bentonite Clay Incorporated 3-aminopropyl Triethoxy Silane Composite (Bentonite/APTES) for CO2 Adsorption

Abstract Herein, we report the composite prepared from bentonite clay and 3-aminoprpoyl triethoxy silane (APTES) for CO2 adsorption via a simple extrudation procedure. The resultant sorbent is characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) techniques. The maximum CO2 adsorption was found to be 16% for 5% Bentonite/APTES composite. Furthermore, it retains its initial adsorption of 88.75% over for 15 cycles.
