Trauma in Elderly

Trauma in elderly patients is an increasingly important issue, especially considering its impact on trauma volume and cost of care. After traumatic injuries, elderly patients present a higher risk of mortality and morbidity, a longer hospital length of stay, and more functional disability when compared to their younger counterparts. The management of trauma in geriatrics needs to be tailored to their general conditions and therapies leading to a decreased ability to respond to stress.
