Probing the Shape Selective Properties of Zeolites ZSM-12 and EU-1 by Catalytic Test Reactions

1988
The shape selective properties of zeolites ZSM-12 and EU-1 were evaluated by means of a variety of catalytic hydrocarbon reactions (hydrocracking of butyl-cyclohexane, isomerization and hydrocracking of n-decane and n-dodecane, disproportionation of ethyl benzene). The results show that a precise classification of the pore width of EU-1 is difficult: Some probe reactions indicate that its effective pore width is between those of ZSM-5 and ZSM-12 while others point to an effective pore width slightly above that of ZSM-12. Perhaps, the void structure of zeolite EU-1 consists of both 10-membered ring channels and a second channel or cavity system formed by puckered 12-membered rings.
