NMR ON oriented 52Mn in Fe, Co and Ni and 90Nb in Co

1982
Using the technique of fast-sweep NMR ON, the hyperfine splittings of 52Mn in Fe, Co and Ni have been measured as 88.71(1), 139.03(3) and 127.49(1) MHz. Spin-lattice relaxation times T'1 have been measured as a function of external magnetic field B0. A weak dependence of T'1 on B0 was found in all three cases. The hyperfine splitting of 90NbCo was measured as 71.4(2) MHz. Using the known g factor of 90Nb, g=0.6201(5), the hyperfine field of Nb in Co is deduced to be -151.1(4) kG. Between B0=1.6 and 4.0 kG the spin-lattice relaxation time increases by a factor of about 3.5. The similarity of the field dependence of T'1 for 90NbCo indicates that this effect is due more to the properties of the impurity nuclei than those of the host.
