Phase transformation behaviors and shape memory characteristics of Ti–Ni–Mo alloys

2002
Abstract Substitution of Mo for Ni in a 51Ti–49Ni alloy induced the R phase transformation. In a thermo-mechanically treated 51Ti–48.3Ni–0.7Mo alloy, the R phase appeared on both heating and cooling, while it appeared only on cooling in 51Ti–49Ni and 51Ti–48.5Ni–0.5Mo alloys. The reverse transformation finish temperature (Af) of 51Ti–48.3Ni–0.7Mo alloy was not changed with increasing applied stress from 20 to 120 MPa, but kept constant at about 310 K, which is the human body temperature.
