Archetypal Structure of the Love Triangle

2019
Intimate relationships are an almost universal human experience but to date there is no structural theory claiming to explain the main lines of its formation, functioning and imbalances, as well as the violence and various forms of alienation that they can generate. The model we propose to use is the archetypal structure of the love triangle (The Prostitute, the Savior and the Apollo), as found in myths and various forms of Art. The model is first applied to romantic relationships, but it is intended to apply to other types of interpersonal relationships, particularly in the family. The aim of the model is to act on two levels: to offer a simplified representation of dyadic interpersonal relationships, and in particular of the feelings of love and fear they generate if the agents are rational, but also to explain the diversity of models and theories of love and attraction developed up to now.
