The invention discloses a silicon-carbide-whisker-reinforced iron-base composite material and a preparation method thereof. The silicon-carbide-whisker-reinforced iron-base composite material comprises the following components in percentage by mass: 1.5-5.5% of Al, 3.6-7.0% of Mo, 2.0-3.3% of Cu, 0.2-1.5% of Cr, 12.0-22.0% of Zr, 2.5-4.5% of Mg, 1.0-2.0% of SiC whisker, 1.2-1.4% of Si, 0.08-0.14% of B and the balance of Fe. The silicon carbide whisker used as the main hard phase can be well combined with the base, thereby effectively enhancing the mechanical properties of the sintered and quenched material; and after the quenching-tempering heat treatment is performed, the hardness and strength of the alloy are greatly enhanced.
