After the first attempts to reveal the nature of dark matter did not bring the hoped-for success, current experimental physics is pursuing a new approach. A multitude of large and small experiments, all of which have one common denominator: the search outside the familiar canon of the Standard Model of particle physics. Hidden within it is the hope of opening a window to a new era of physics that can reveal the nature of dark matter and, as it were, strip it of its Hades cap - the cap that gave its wearer invisibility in Greek mythology.
