Chapter 2 – Basic Knowledge of Immunology

2016
The immune system protects our bodies from dangerous infections with efficient and complex strategies. In this chapter, we give an overview of the immune system, including immune organs, cells, and molecules. We also try to explain the mechanisms of immune responses, which connect the cells and organs from three entry points of innate immunity, adaptive immunity, and complement system. The key concepts and genes are also introduced to provide the basic knowledge for the comparative research in later chapters.
