Hamiltonian formulation of the ICRF heating dynamics in toroidal magnetic field configuration

2008
For the ICRF wave particle coupling, it is only when the Random Phase Approximation (RPA) is valid that a diffusion process takes place, from which particle heating results. In the prospect of coming studies of suprathermal population dynamics, i.e. low collisionality regime, only intrinsic stochasticity above its threshold may legitimate the RPA. It is then essential that ICRF stochastic heating of passing and trapped particles be reviewed. Finally, two suprathermal ICRF schemes are investigated, in which the criterion and efficiency of enhanced fusion rate andfast wave current generation are given.
