Glucose-assisted ball milling preparation of silver-doped biphasic TiO2 for efficient photodegradation of Rhodamine B: Effect of silver-dopant loading

2021
Abstract Herein, 0 to 5 mol% of Silver-doped TiO2 composites were prepared via glucose-assisted ball-milling. The morphology of all composites were observed by scattering electron microscopy. Powder X-ray diffraction confirmed the existence of both anatase and rutile phases with different loading. The diffuse reflectance spectroscopy revealed a slight surface Plasmon resonance peak in the visible region, increasing its broad intensity from 1 to 5mol%. The band gap energy varies depending on the Ag loading. The photodegradation of Rhodamine B was performed under UV irradiations. Photocatalysis tests shows that RhB's degradation is higher for TiO2 doped with 3% of Ag.
