Fabrication of magnetically driven photonic crystal fiber film via microfluidic blow-spinning towards dynamic biomimetic butterfly

Abstract We report the construction of biomimetic colloidal photonic crystals (CPCs) fiber film via spraying monodisperse colloidal particles onto microfluidic blow-spun magnetic TPU/Fe3O4 fiber film. The TPU/Fe3O4/CPCs film shows the excellent flexibility, magnetic response and bright angle-dependent structural colors. Moreover, the biomimetic butterfly based on TPU/Fe3O4/CPCs film is facilely achieved. The magnetic field could drive the wing flapping of the biomimetic butterfly, accompanying with the structural color variation from dull blue to bright green, which gives an insight into the manufacture of dynamic biomimetic CPCs materials.
