Physiology of rate-responsive pacing.

1992
In the search for a more ‘physiologic’ pacing mode, rate responsiveness and atrioventricular synchronic pacing became the most important developments of modern pacemaker technology. Progress in biosensor technology improved the quality of these devices. This article reviews the hemodynamic assessment of rate responsive and atrioventricular pacing and its clinical implications.
