Clinical Features of Infective Endocarditis
2016
Infective Endocarditis (IE) is an uncommon disease and the clinical presentation is very variable. Therefore the diagnosis is very often not suspected until severe complications occur. IE should be considered in every patient, in particular in those with valvular or congenital heart disease or carrying prosthetic valves, pacemakers or devices, presenting with longstanding fever and also in patients with fever and heart failure, fever and neurological symptoms or fever and embolic episodes.
