Swan - for Saxophone Quartet

2019
Swan was composed in 2011 for the Lunar Saxophone Quartet. It has been performed extensively and recorded by the Delta Saxophone Quartet on their album Bowie, Berlin and Beyond (2018). Score and parts are published by UYMP. The music is in two parts, slow then fast; the first section comprises a gradual, process-driven exposition of a cantilena melody for soprano saxophone, whilst the second part is a rhythmic, dance-like Allegro which makes oblique reference to the opening material. Recent performances of Swan include: 6 January 2020, Drayton Festival Centre, Market Drayton, Shropshire; Kaleidoscope Saxophone Quartet 23 January 2020, Faversham Music Club, Faversham, Kent; Kaleidoscope Saxophone Quartet 26 September 2019, St Johns, Smith Square, London; Kaleidoscope Saxophone Quartet 25 October 2019, Calstock Arts, Cornwall; Delta Sax Quartet. 6 September 2019, Festival of the Sky, Cleethorpes; Lincs.
