VARIACIÓN GRANULOMÉTRICA Y MINERALÓGICA EN PROFUNDIDAD DE LOS SEDIMENTOS RETENIDOS POR DIQUES. ESTUDIO EN CAUCES TORRENCIALES SEMIÁRIDOS DEL SURESTE PENINSULAR

2009
The check dams constitute today a practice habitually contemplated in the projects and programs of hydrological - forest restoration of fl uvial torrential systems in the Mediterranean semiarid area. Important geomorphological adjustments have taken place in relation to these structures, among which the textural changes are specially relevant. This paper shows the vertical granulometric and mineralogical variation of the sedimentary wedges originated upstream from several check dams. Perforations have been carried out in wedges of check dams constructed along two torrential streams in the peninsular South-east: Carcavo rambla (Cieza) and Torrecilla rambla (Lorca). The catchments of both ephemeral channels were submitted to similar projects of hydrological - forest restoration, but have environmental different characteristics, which infl uence determines sensitively the structural effects.
