The main objectives of this paper are to reflect on work as a transverse axis and to outline an alternative for initial training of teachers in this area. In order to achieve these objectives we present a referential theoretic framework on work, globalization, education and transversalitiy We are interested in outlining the importance of work as a transverse axis in education in general and specifically in Venezuelan education. We are particularly interested in proposing a theoretical and practical basic knowledge that will guide teacher training programs in this area and that enable future teachers to find alternatives to the constant socio-economical, political and cultural changes of the local, regional, national and global society that have an effect on their daily task. We think it is important to include in the teacher training program, virtual environments in order to link companies and their activities with the School of Education.
