Current Trends in Microwave Engineering

The courses related to microwave engineering are intrinsically mathematical and abstract Quite often, this area is perceived as old fashioned. For these reasons, many students do not come forward enthusiastically to work in this area, preferring to work in other areas. In this paper, current trends and emerging applications related to microwave engineering are recapitulated indicating intense research and development activity in this area, and renewed interest in some conventional applications. This information is aimed at providing prospective students a snapshot of the current status of microwave engineering; it should prove helpful in motivating them to choose careers in this field.
