NEW RICE PRODUCTION TECHNOLOGIES AND THE ENVIRONMENT IN NIGERIA

Rice production in Nigeria has increased over the last few decades due to the introduction of modern rice production technologies at an increase cost to the environment. It is predicted that during the coming decades, global climate are likely to affect agriculture including rice production. Conversely, rice production has its effects on the environment. A more environmentally sound rice production technology is recommended.
