There was a greater frequency of erythema in the tretinoin group until 20 weeks oftherapy. This could have affected the double-blind design of the study. Although the tretinoin group showed significant cutaneous improvement, the lack of a completely double-blind design may have affected the psychologic measures, given that the placebo response for dermatologic therapies can be high. OUf preliminary findings need further follow-up.
