Breeding report of a high yield and good quality maize variety, "jinongyu309".

A new maize variety"jinongyu309"was bred using"GS04"as female parent and"WH8"as male parent. Its yield was 10 403.2 kg/hm2 in the 2-year regional test,7.9% higher than that of the control variety "jidan261";and testing results showed that its yield was 9 927.7 kg/hm2 in the production test,8.8% higher that of the control variety "jidan261". "Jinongyu309"was examined and approved by Jilin Evaluation Committee of Crop Variety in January of 2009.The characters of "jinongyu309"were steady and high in yield,great in resistance to diseases and drought,and better in quality. "Jinongyu309" belongs to middle mature variety,and can be planted in Changchun,Jilin,Tonghua,Songyuan and Baicheng of Jilin province and some regions of Heilongjiang province.
