Some Aspects of Reformation of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine

Ukraine was one of the regions of the former Soviet Union. The system of the republic organization of the investigations and elaborations was the part of the All-Union system. Ukraine became an independent State in 1991. It inherited the scientific system that had a number of defects and did not correspond to the requirements of the country. These defects included various deformations concerning development of the investigations in the field of the natural sciences, humanitarian and especially applied sciences. For example, the share of work directed to the defence of the country was too large. Social-humanitarian investigations were extremely politicized and developed in isolation from world science. The juridical defence of the intellectual property had not enough guarantee.
